Foodfight: The Video Game
A downloadable game
Based on the infamous 2012 movie of the same name, it's Foodfight!: The Video Game, a retro-style platformer inspired by the equally infamous and insanely hard movie tie-in games of the 80s and 90s. Play as Dex Dogtective, the Cinnamon Sleuth, as he fights to take down the nefarious Brand X and defend Marketropolis from a cruel expiration...
Strawberry jam yourself into some action with:
-8 stages based on exciting scenes from the movie!
-Devilishly difficult bossfights such as Lady X, the Brand X Mashed Potato Man and Mr Clipboard!
-Collect raisins to restore your Health Meter! But beware...you only get one life!
-Colorful graphics and thrilling 2D scenes! Get ready for a tale of what happens when good food...goes bad!
If you like this game, check out my blog where I review the insanely rare official Foodfight! novelization (seriously, there's only ONE copy in existence): https://foodfightnovelization.tumblr.com/

I can forgive it since it's your first project but the jump definitely annoyed me. But overall the game has a very distinct charm to it that the film it's based off of can never replicate.
This reminds me of 2000s era fangames. I mean that in the most positive way possible.
There is an understandable roughness to the whole thing because, as you said, its your first project like this and its a platformer made in rpg maker. But I think despite that it shows an ingenuity and passion throughout.
The fact there is an earnest foodfight fangame that body slams you back to the title and has bump combat is exactly the sort of stuff I love fangames for. Very excited to see what you do next.
Thank you so much for saying this, it means so much to get a comment like this! I'm really glad it reminds you of that era of fangames- the 2000s era of the internet was what I grew up with, and it's always been what I loved. People have said a bunch of my work reminds them of that time, but it's not something I even do intentionally, it's just the way it comes out. But I'm glad it does because I miss the era of the internet when people would create and share all kinds of crazy awesome art and games just for the hell of it, sorta a weird indie vibe that isn't around as much anymore.
I'm really glad you mentioned it instantly bodyslamming you back to the title upon dying once- part of this was because it's a pretty short game, and I wanted to make it harder- but that oldschool NES hard where it's not exactly fair. I was thinking of that one AVGN episode where he rages over "ONE GUY? NO CONTINUES!" haha.
I'm really glad you enjoyed the game, and I hope you'll stick around to see anything else I make. I have a few other ideas for games, I also want to get back into Flash animation (I made cartoons for Newgrounds back in the 2010s) so hopefully you'll like whatever I do next. I have a YouTube page where I post all kinds of videos so you can subscribe to me there if you want to keep up with everything I do: https://www.youtube.com/@TiffanyAmber01
Thank you so much for making this! This reminds me of the YouTube series "Quickest Game Overs" from back in the mid-2000s. I hope you enjoyed the game as well by the way!
I did play it a bit more, haven't beat it yet tho.
